Bathroom Bliss

So much for my plans to blog more... However I do have something positive to report. The bathroom has been refurbished and it's great.

I think the before and after pictures will say it all on this one - but basically, it's white and tasteful so it's a massive improvement in my opinion! I am quite pleased with the design if I do say so myself - we've managed to fit in a bath in a small space (6ft x6ft) and some storage without making it seem cramped.

We had the work done by Lee from Thameside Heating & Bathrooms who we found through Trust A Trader and would recommend to anyone.

Also all the staff at Eurotiles and Stone in Twickenham are fantastic, especially if you go there around eight times for various bits and pieces in various states of stress.

In case you don't know what it looked like before, here's the peach look:

But frankly I'd rather look at these:

New Year's Resolution

This blog has not been updated as much as I would have liked. This is due to the house not being worked on as much as I would have liked! However, it's my New Year's Resolution to get on with things. So far, it's going reasonably OK. We have nearly got a second bedroom ready. We just have to rehang the door which the carpet fitters had to take off. Then we have a nice new room and a spare room. Woo hoo. We are also getting quotes for the bathroom, which needs to be ripped out and started again. It's exciting though. Hopefully at the end of 2010 I will be sitting here writing about my fabulous house that's completely refurbished...

P.S. The cloud door is history! Thank goodness.

Planning The Next Project

Now that we have nearly finished our bedroom - just got curtains and carpet to go - we are thinking of what to do with the bathroom. There's so many dodgy things in it at the moment i don't know where to start. The peach has got to go, especially as there's lovely bright blue wooden panels underneath in part of the room. And the tiles, not sure what's going on there.

The best bit has to be the shower cabin that feels like it should be beaming you up somewhere. Anyway I have seen some nice glossy grey tiles and very pale grey paint and was thinking that would look good with everything else white. Now we just need to find a plumber!

RIP Roland

Traumatic experience a few weeks ago at the house. A rat paid us a visit and ate our remote controls and generally ran all over the house, freaked me out and pooed everywhere. You can just see on the picture how half the buttons on the Sky remote had no numbers or words on them anymore. I got a new one of those for free but Panasonic want £53 for a replacement one of theirs! So we're still using the gnawed one of those. Anyway, Roland the rat (are there any other famous rat names at all?) had his fun brought to a halt because we caught him/her in a trap and that was that. It's all great fun being a householder.

The First Room

It seemed like a very sensible plan to get one room nice before we moved in so we decided to go for a bedroom - there are less things that can go wrong there and it's good to have somewhere nice to sleep at night. So here it is:

And how it looked before:

As you can see, the lovely curtains were not our choice. They were here already so we just washed them and put them back on for the time being. We managed to get this room ready so quickly thanks to parental help on both sides in the stripping, filling, papering, paiting, carpeting, well 95% of it really. This will eventually be a spare room so if you ever come to visit, this is where you'll be sleeping.

A Few Special Treats

Our house has some interesting features. See below.

We can paint over the door but what on earth can you do with a turquoise-tiled fireplace?

The New House

We have got a new house! I meant to start this blog at the time but now two months has passed. Anyway, as we have not got that far with the renovations I can catch up now.
